Hickory Nut Gap is a working family farm and a meat distribution company based in Fairview, North Carolina. The meat company, Hickory Nut Gap Meats, collaborates with a network of farmers in our region to produce regeneratively raised, 100% grassfed beef and pasture raised heritage breed pork. Our meats are sold to retail, distributor, food service, ecommerce, and other customers across the eastern US. Current JOB Openings

The Regional Foodservice Sales Manager coordinates collaboration among departments to manage current accounts and new regional business including foodservice, institutional, and ingredient accounts. Includes Asheville, NC current business and regional business within the southeast. The role requires regular travel within the southeast region.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage relationships with regional direct customers and broad line distributors
  • Create leads for inventory sales management
  • Offer excellent customer service and customer retention
  • Confirm purchase orders for all existing and new customers

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and respond to incoming wholesale emails.
  • Manage all broad liner foodservice distributor accounts including forecasting, sales, PO confirmations, and customer reviews.
  • Manager all direct foodservice, institutional and ingredient accounts including forecasting, sales, purchase order confirmations, and key account reviews.
  • Balance inventory through sales made by networking and creating leads in the marketplace.
  • Use ERP system to enter all sales orders for assigned customers.
  • Coordinate with Operations team to ensure effective production planning.
  • Collaborate with finance team on purchase order pricing confirmation, promotional planning, sales offerings and more.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to assess needs and support customers.
  • Track customer communication through tools given by management.
  • Lead inter-departmental collaboration for assigned new customer onboarding needs.
  • Provide customer insights to internal team to inform pricing and other business decisions.
  • Assist accounting team with receivables collections and reporting as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Head of Sales.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • 3-5 years sales experience in foodservice and perishables foods.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Food Distribution.
  • Knowledge of ERP software a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good at juggling multiple tasks and prioritizing tasks; ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS Position reports to the Head of Sales, and works alongside the sales, operations, finance, and marketing teams. All other staff remain available for information, advice, guidance, or assistance if needed and may provide training, coaching, and feedback as appropriate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS This may be a physically demanding position. Most days will be somewhat sedentary at a desk or on the road, but there is regular moving around and warehouse assistance may be needed requiring lifting to 60 lbs.
